Laura Moser was born in Louisville Kentucky the home of Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby. Her grand mother worked at an exclusive boutique that dressed the elegant women of Louisville for the big fashion event. Those images have stayed with Laura throughout her life. Laura started creating her own Derby hats when she and her husband started to annually attend the Derby. Many friends and family caught on and asked her to make a hat for them, and Simply Laura was born.
Laura became intrigued with the art of millinery and creating wearable art. She has spent the last two years training with world renown milliners Tracy Chaplin in France, Louise McDonald, Alison Clark and Carole Maher in Australia, and Vlad Straticiuc from Spain. And is utilizing her skills in the form of one of a kind custom couture millinery pieces. Every piece is hand blocked over traditional millinery blocks and then sewn by hand. Each adornment is created and designed for that specific hat.
Her work has been featured on the cover of Today’s Woman magazine as well as their special Derby issue, The Voice Tribune, and Tatler magazine in London. Her work can be found at Von Maur Department Store and The Brown Hotel. Both in Louisville, Kentucky.
Laura is married to C.D. Moser, her partner in crime for 34 years, and they have 3 sons. Through their careers in the Airline industry they have lived in many places across the U.S. as well as the Countries of the Turks and Caicos and Sint Maarten. They love to travel and do so as often as possible.
Laura gets inspiration through travel, her southern roots, and Mother Natures amazing color palettes. As a matter of fact, the shade of blue in her Simply Laura logo was taken from her favorite beach in the Turks and Caicos, (half moon bay) where there are too many shades of blue to count.
